P is for St Petersburg

armadillo statue

We went into St Petersburg yesterday to fetch some more insulin for She Devil and enjoy some of that area.  Our first stop was to the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, one of my favorite little spots to visit. The trails are nice to hike on and the boardwalks provide a nice view over the water. My favorite part of this park are the whimsical statues made of recycled materials.

this is right in the water - just lovely

What are you DOING?

They also have a small birds of prey section and although these birds are behind screen mesh I managed to get a couple of nice shots.  Don't ask me how and I'll tell you no lies.

not sure what this is
supposed to be - but it's up
in a tree and very funny

The Pier

Our next stop was at The Pier which is a large structure at the end of....well....a pier.  There were many pelicans and birds flying about and we ate lunch on the top floor overlooking the water...until our hands went numb, then we went inside to finish eatting.

On our way back we picked up the insulin and met the fine staff at Noah's Place VCA and gathered up She Devil's supplies.  They are a wacky bunch, almost as strange as those at the Sand Lake VCA back home.

Long Live the Slave of She Devil

  1. I love the photo of the bird in the water. What kind is it? And that strange looking tree-dweller looks sort of like a metal alien. My Tootsie goes to the VCA too. The So. Weymouth VCA. Small world! Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.
