Book recommendations

I just finished reading the Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom and fell in love with it.  It's a story of a young Irish girl orphaned during the passage to America and taken to a plantation as an indentured servant.  The story is told in her view and that of one of the black slaves that she lives with and parallels their helplessness.

The only bummer is that this is the first book written by Ms Grissom and I will have to wait for her to finish the second book she is working on....but I think it will be worth the wait.

I also see that Water for Elephants will be coming out in April as a motion picture and having recently finished that book I can hardly wait.
