My Big Fun Day....NOT

I had planned a whole wonderful day of shopping, lunch and a movie with my favorite date...ME.  This is not to sound conceited, but I learned very young as an only child to enjoy my own company.

It started out as it so often does... by my getting lost.  But the good news was that I stumbled upon JoAnne Fabrics in the process.  So I leisurely strolled up and down the aisles choosing which fabrics I would like to buy, picking them up and putting most of them back....no room for too many impulse purchases.

Then I headed over to Panera for my favorite pick-two lunch of French Onion soup and Greek salad.  To my surprise I found I had a birthday purchase to use up by the end of the month so I chose the carrot cake cupcake.  Could this day get any better?  I knew I'd be too full to eat it there, so I had them box it up to enjoy later when Left Brain was at the sports bar watching the football game.  Such bliss.

I was going to linger there for a bit until three ladies came over next to me with several kids having various tantrums...time to move on.  This should have been my first inclination that things were starting to sour.

Since I had a bit of time yet before my movie I stopped at Michael's to find my decorative storage boxes.  Found some that would work size-wise and they were half price...such a deal.  When I went to check out, the young girl at the cashier was sobbing her heart out.  Hmmmm....another foreshadowing of the day.

But, enough of this drama.  I'm going to relax and enjoy my romantic comedy.  Nothing like a chick flick to perk up the mood.  The movie I chose was called "If I Stay" and I really did believe it was a comedy.  Let's just say I was totally wrong.  It was a multi-tissue, nose blowing movie and soon I was right there with the check out girl at Michael's.  Now I feel depressed myself.

I was in a hurry to get home and enjoy my scrumptious looking cupcake, but duty called and I had to stop at Walmart to return a cat bed that George and Gracie both rejected, pick up my prescription and some milk.

The lines at the return counter are never short and today was no exception, but finally that was resolved and it was on to get my pills since I took my last one this morning.  I was wondering why they never called me to let me know it was filled.  I would soon find out why....they have a shortage of those meds.  Huh?

The nice technician provided me with a one week supply to hold me over until the rest came in.  Good golly Miss Molly...I need my Prozac more than ever right now!

I scooped up the rest of my sundry items and boogied home to dive in and enjoy that cupcake.  Part of the day was a downer, but this will make up for it.

When I flipped open the box with my little treasure I noticed the swarm of tiny ants.  Oh crap!  I actually did consider brushing them off and eating it anyway but gave up and tossed it in the trash.  Didn't need those calories anyway. It was hard to get a photo of all of them...those little buggers move fast!

Long Live the Queen of Cupcakes Denied

  2. Some folks cook the ants and dip them in chocolate. An idea? .... Nah, I didn't think so. I'd have tossed it in the garbage too. I'm really sorry your day went sour, but maybe tomorrow will be much better. You have a wonderful evening. Hugs, Edna B.

  3. We had a similar experience with our romantic movie pick on Netflix. The Best Offer. It certainly gave conversation into the next day. C'est la vie. Some days are just filled with ants.

  4. WEll, what a lovely day you had and I am here to add to your burden ... Just kidding. I came to tell you that I have nominated you for an award (OMG, yes, I really did). It is a very nice award that you are truely deserving of ... one that McGuffy nominated me for ... I am just passing it forward. It is called the Butterfly Light Award and you have to come to my blog to pick it up. I do understand that some people do not accept awards and I didn't even bother to look to see if you were one of them ... I decided that you need to know that I think you deserve it even if you don't accept it. So there ... you will sleep well tonight, I have no doubt :)
