Left Brain goes fishing

Normally Left Brain is a pretty straight shooter, not one to bend the law, so I don't know what got into him this time.  I guess he just had to go fishing...right now...and couldn't be bothered with getting a fishing license.

It gets pricey to buy an out of state license everywhere you go and maybe he felt entitled to fish in his old "home" waters.

Who knows.  I'll never completely understand him.

But he is a crafty one and here's how he dealt with the little problem that arose.

It seems he had a bit of luck that morning and had five live fish in a bucket when the game warden approached him.  He asked to see his license.  Uh oh.

Left Brain calmly explained he didn't have one and didn't see any need for one since these were his pet fish.  This stunned the warden, who has probably heard every possible excuse in the world by now.

"Pet fish?" the warden asked.

"Yup" Left Brain replied. "When we're on the road like this I like to take them to whatever body of water we're near and let them swim around and enjoy themselves.  It gets pretty boring for them sitting in the bucket all the time.  When I whistle they all swim right back to me and we all go back to the RV."

By now the warden was feeling really put out and said "What a line of baloney.  You're under arrest."

Well, that didn't even shake up Left Brain a bit.  "It's the truth, I'll show ya.  We do this all the time."

"Do we?" scoffed the warden.  "Prove it!" he said with a smirk.

Left Brain released the fish into the river and stood there and waited.

"Well..." the warden said.

"Well what?" said Left Brain.

Now the warden was clearly getting impatient.  "When are you going to call them back?"

"Call who back?" Left Brain asked, looking very confused.

"This fish!" shouted the warden.

"What fish?" said Left Brain.  Then he smiled and walked away.

What am I going to do with that man?

  1. Now THAT'S a fish story! lol. I loved it. It must be hard for guys to talk their way out of a ticket or arrest when they do something wrong and caught. It's not like they can lean over and show a little cleavage, or hike their skirts up to show a bit more leg. Yup, us gals have all been there. But pet fish?????? Today the weather is simply gorgeous, so you and Left Brain enjoy this fabulous day in Maine. Hugs, Edna B.

  3. Oh my gosh...my Dad used to do things like that! I actually inherited some of his "storytelling" ability. I always told tales like that, even as a kid. I loved this! Thanks for the laugh today.
