I've been having SEW much fun lately!

My friend, Beth, invited me to join her at her church's crafting session.  We each get an eight foot table to work on and can arrange them how ever we choose.  Our little group has four of us quilting our hearts out.

It is a real treat to be able to set up all my stuff and have a huge mess and just leave it for a couple of days.  It makes it easier to get a lot of stuff done.

My first project was to make the toaster over cover.  I had kept the plastic storage drawers from our old house to use in the RV.   I needed just a tad more space to keep the bread and some other stuff, so I added two more drawers on top of it.

Since these slid around a bit, I duct taped them to the rolling base.  Very effective but ugly.  To cover the entire mess I used an old tablecloth my daughter was throwing out to create a ruffled table skirt.  I created an insert for a large cutting board on the top of this to smooth out the top of it, but kept this open so I can remove the board for use and to enable laundering of the skirt.

This looked nice, but then the toaster over looked ugly...and naked.  So I decided it needed a cover over it.  I chose a plain medium brown color so it would blend in nicely with all the other browns and beiges in our decor.

I added a pocked on the one side of it for safety reasons.  Since we are often in a different place we like to have the info for the campground du jour on hand in case of emergency.  We know to dial 911, but aren't always certain what our address is so this just seemed like a good idea.

It's always fun to sew things for the home and continue to create my own little nest.

Long Live the Queen of Sewing

  2. Isn't it wonderful to be able to cover up an practical & useful eyesore, and make it look nice and part of your decor? Nicely done.

  3. This skirted cover brings back memories of when I was a little girmother made skirt covers like this to go around the sinks. This way, you could store stuff under the sink and it would still look pretty. The pocket on the toaster cover is a great idea. Yu have a great evening. Hugs, Edna B.
