Greetings from Camp Swampy

When you live on an island and enjoy the backwaters of the Mississippi, sometimes you get too much of a good thing.  This rise in water has not affected our site, but let me take you on a tour of the park.

Hmmm, I can't imagine why nobody has snatched up site 135 yet.

Many of the roads have water going over them, which often isn't a big problem, but some of them have been closed because you really don't know where the road is at all.

Stay on the road....I know it's here somewhere

Road?  There's a road here?

This camper seems to be surrounded and I hope he's not hoping to try to get into his RV any time soon.

Like a castle and it's own moat
Ah....at last they got that lakefront property they always wanted

this is the view from the front

There are many available campsites -
operators are standing by to take your call!

each of those posts on the side of the road is for a campsite

This one tickled me with the blue tarp used to keep the firewood dry.  I bet they never saw that one coming!  You would need hip waders to get to the fire ring.

Wouldn't you love to have a picnic at this shelter?  Such fun romping through the small lake.  Actually I know some kids and dogs that would love this site.  The parents...not so much.

Attention all campers!  The sand volleyball has been cancelled.  But now for the good news...the water volleyball is on!

you can always count on our Canadian visitors to never complain - they seem to like the water

  1. Drought last year, now floods. It's always something. Great pictures, though! That looked like a big Gypsy Moth coccoon. They are so incredibly destructive. The owls are magnificent. Long Live the Queen!

  2. Wow, I have to say that the photos are fabulous!! As much as I would love to have a piece of lake front property to retire on, I think I'm better off on higher, drier land. I feel so bad for the folks who may have had water damage to their RV's. At least the Canadian guests are happy. Have a wonderful night, hugs, Edna B.
