Happy Birthday George and Gracie

Since it was just after Memorial Day that George and Gracie came into our lives, we use June 1st  as their birthday.  I mean, come on...we gotta have some date to celebrate and eat cake.

For their birthday I decided to get four more sections of the tunnel for their tent city.  Each section is about five feet long, so now Gracie can really get some speed up as she changes across the yard.

They now have 42 feet of glorious tunnel to race through.

I had hoped to be able to pull it into a circle around the tent for continual running without having to stop, but alas the zippers aren't cooperating.  But with a couple of hours of sewing and altering one end, now they have this new race track to enjoy.

For a special surprise when they woke up I switched it around so they can circle the tree and keep a really close eye on what's going on up there.

  2. This is absolutely wonderful! Happy Birthday to George and Gracie. Wow, I've never seen such a fabulous kitty city. They should have lots of fun running through their new tunnels. Pogo sends licks and good wishes to them. You have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.

  3. Would you add a comment or include in a future post the brand of pet tent Gracie and George use? My two kitty boys are envious of the outdoor time your cats have in their tent city. Thank you.
Happy Birthda to Gracie and George, or may I say Happy Gotcha Day? I really like using "gotcha" here. I copied it from Meg Hart, the Housecat Confidential blogger and author, or the Mommy of the Katnip Lounge blog. It helps emphasize that the cats involved were not born into our care; instead we found each one and took responsibility for its care and future with a loving "Gotcha! Here is your forever home."

    1. It is the ABO Gear Happy Habitat from Dr Foster & Smith online. See JuJuBeans comment below - another happy kitty has her own tent.

  6. Looks great, Cheryl. I did order the ABO Gear Happy tent from Amazon for our kitties, after your original recommendation. Precious hasn't quite adjusted to the strange feeling on her paws when it's in the grass but she loves it when she's on our deck which is fine with me. She used to be out on a leash and would get tangled up with chairs, the grill, etc. The tent gives her a lot of freedom. I was going to ask you what you did for shade, and I see you put a tarp over the top. Good plan.

    1. I am so happy for her! I have the tarp for when it's rainy because of their little chairs, scratching pad, etc inside the tent. For just shade I like to use a tablecloth so it breathes better. She might like to better if there was a pop-up cube to hide inside or adding a scratching post or some toys...make it a bit more homey.
