RV Question: How do you get your mail

One of the more common questions we get asked is "how do you get your mail?"  Apparently many people are much more excited by what's in their mailbox than we are.

Our mail goes to our address in Texas, which is part of the service provided by Escapees.  The volume is large enough that we have our own zip code and all the mail is processed at a state of the art sorting center on site in Livingston TX.

First of all, almost everything we do is handled online now, so there isn't much mail to speak of.  I've even signed up for a couple of junk catalogs just to have something to read when it comes.

About once or twice a month we request the mail by sending an email to the facility in Livingston, letting them know where we are currently located.  They then put it all in a flat rate mailer and send it to us.  We kind of forgot about it this last time and it was a month since we've had it last...this is what one months worth of mail looks like.

Most of our mail consists of magazines from Escapee's, Motorhome Magazine, Readers Digest, Keepsake Quilting catalogs and a few odds and ends.

  1. I think this type of mail center is a great idea. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to use it because that box of mail is about two or three days tops mail here (just for me). Gosh, and how would I be able to get my packages from my online shopping? Well, I'd be okay with Amazon packages, but the others? Hmmmmmm. I guess a tiny house isn't in my near future. Oh well. You have a super day my friend. Hugs, Edna B.

  2. Online shopping is not a problem. It would make no sense to pay for shipping it twice, so we always just have packages shipped to our actual current address. I'm not about to give up online shopping....it's even more important now that we're on the road.
