Ants and oranges

I felt inspired to take out my macro lens and play with it recently.

I've always loved photographing bugs...I don't why because they creep me out.

I put the oranges out for the orioles, but as you can see, the ants love them also.  Oranges close up are quite lovely.

The grape jelly is for all the birds to enjoy and this scruffy little guy reminded me of the one I rescued from the jelly jar. He's safe feeding with me again since now I only allow open containers in my feeding station.

Here's an example of the food chain in action.  The ant that was savoring the jelly is about to become a snack for the oriole.  Perhaps they like jelly filled ants like we like jelly filled doughnuts.  Hmmm....now I'm hungry.  For doughnuts, not ants, silly.

Long Live the Queen of Bugs

  2. Your bird photo is awesome! Your close-up of the orange is great, and I agree that oranges have super texture. I tend to take photos of bugs too, even though I don't like them. I think I do it to get better at macro. Well, it's time for me to get busy around here with the dust cloth. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
