Florida's Kitchen

We're nearing the end of our stay here and I'm ready to move onward and upward.  We met with the attorney about redoing our wills and will drop off papers on Monday for him. That should be our last transaction to have everything done as true "Texans".

This afternoon we dined at a little rustic country place called Florida's kitchen.

I'd read good reviews about it and since tomorrow is Easter, this seemed like the best day to go.

And it was a good thing we did, since they are only open Wednesday through Saturday!

I would have been so sad to have missed this experience!

As you can see, the place is not fancy...and we find often these are best places for good eating!

As we arrived there was a group of bikers ahead of us...party of forty.

I was thinking I could go slip on my do-rag from when I had long hair and see if we could mingle in with them, but alas we had no black leather apparel with us.

Even with the rush we managed to get seated quickly and our order came very fast.  We both went with the small serving of ribs, which came with baked beans and potato salad.  I ordered a bowl of fried okra on the side as well because the reviews were glowing about them.  They were scrumptious!

Everything was so tasty...messy, but tasty.  The BBQ sauce came heated in a bottle served on the side.  We  both appreciated this since we could add as much (or as little) as we desired.  Let me translate for you:  I could slather them with sauce and make a complete fool of myself.

We left happy and satisfied and ready for another afternoon of reading and goofing off....we sure have a grueling schedule.
I figure I can do my laundry tomorrow since most will be busy with Easter festivities and it should be quiet in there.

I've got the next part of our journey plotted out in Roadtrippers.com, my new favorite website for trip planning.  I'll go more into that later when I figure out how to add it to the blog.

Long Live the Queen of BBQ

  1. when you see lots of bikes at a place, it usually means good food! and that looks delish!

  3. Aha! Now that's food that I can enjoy too! I have to agree that most "unfancy" places offer up very good food. I got up early this morning to help the Bunny with his deliveries. Believe it or not, if the Bunny did not stop by with little baskets, the dwarfs would be a bit sad. Even Pogo woke up this morning to find a tiny fuzzy doggie sharing his bed. Hmmm, the Bunny must have slipped it in there when I wasn't looking. You have a wonderful day, Happy Easter. Hugs, Edna B.
