Day Two in Chattanooga - meeting new friends

I had a response from a lady on my blog telling me all about the wonders of Chattanooga and what to see and do while in the area.  Seems she and her husband also vacation in an RV with three cats and she is a quilter.  A meeting was planned to meet at Cheddar's for lunch.  The weather was rainy, so it was good to have an indoor activity.
The aquarium was huge and beautiful

Left Brain and I arrived early and played the guessing game at each person coming through the door as to whether or not this might be them.  He was a bit dismayed at my lack of planning when he found out I had no idea what they looked like.  It failed to comfort him when I said "she'll look like a quilter...we tend to find each other in a crowd".

So we admired the decor of Cheddar's while playing the guessing game.  Sure enough, in came a couple and the lady had a quilted bag with her.  She spotted my handmade purse and the identification process was complete.

David ordered their "stack" of onion rings and they had to be the lightest, crispiest onion rings I've ever had.  Sherry was chiding him for not ordering a vegetable with his meal and he pointed out that onions were a vegetable.  I like this man's logic.

We had the most enjoyable lunch talking and getting to know each other during our meal.  This is my favorite part of RV life... finding treasures on the road, whether they be scenery, a great meal or interesting people.

After lunch we went to the Chattanooga Quilts where Sherry meets her customers for her long arm quilting business.  I didn't make any purchase, which shocked Left Brain.

The shop was charming, but it just wasn't the kind of fabrics I was looking for.  My tastes run more towards goofy novelty fabrics and this place was much too refined.  But Sherry did give me one of her bright yellow bags that she provides to her customers.  I can always use another lightweight bag and it was a thoughtful gift and nice memento to have of our visit.

  1. Don't worry about shopping at Hancock Fabrics when you come back to La Crosse! They are closing .

    1. That is just too sad. I stopped at a Hancocks Fabric here and saw all the closing signs. They said that they ALL were closing...and just found out about it last Thursday.

  2. How wonderful to meet new faces, find new places, uncover great treasures, and share new pleasures. Oh, and April is Poetry Month. I used to collect poetry books from places I traveled to. I love poetry by the indigenous people of a given area, be it country, mountains, harbor towns, whatever. Great poetry. Love it.

  3. I am reeling from shock that you didn't find any fabric. Are you OK?

    1. I picked up two yards at the clearance sale at Hancock Fabrics here in Chattanooga. I feel a bit less shaky now. Plus I found a great online source and ordered a couple of fat quarters I was looking for.

  4. I know what you mean about it not being the kind of fabric you prefer. I like the kookier patterns too. That huge pile of onions is making my mouth water!! As for the soup, go ahead and lick the bowl. I won't tell anyone. So glad your visit with new friends was such fun. Have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
