Rally in Tallahassee

Since there was nothing to do our first day at the fairgrounds, we went in search of lunch and groceries.

I found this interesting looking place called Nefetari's on Yelp and since we had visited her tomb while in Egypt, it only seemed right to have lunch here.

The decor was over the top, everything you'd expect for a Queen...and I should know, since I am the Queen!

A wine sarcophagus?

Left Brain had the crab cakes and let me have a taste of them...delish!

I wanted to have the Ethiopian stew, but that's only served at night, so settled for the shrimp scampi.

After lunch we stopped for some supplies and went back to the fairgrounds to officially register for the rally.

I walked over to the registration area and found a woman frantically trying to get everybody registered and with more and more people arriving.

So, as soon as I had my packet I took off my shirt and went to her side of the counter and asked "what can I do to help you?".  The look of relief on her face was palpable.  For the next hour I put together name tags and organized them in a somewhat alphabetical order and then folded what seemed like hundreds of t-shirts.  When I left the area was clean and ready for action, since the real onslaught will start the next day.

We anxiously huddled over our "goodie bag" to find out what the festivities would entail over the next few days.  Most of the stuff in the bag we tossed out...brochures and ads for things we would never be bothered with.  Then we came to the official schedule.  Oh goodie!  What wonders will it hold?  How will we be able to choose which seminars to attend and which to skip?

Turned out to not be a problem. There was no overlap of four seminars on Sunday, none on Monday and only one on Tuesdsay...none of them terribly interesting.

Hmmm, maybe we should have signed up for the all day tour on Monday.  Nope, that was the one day I could find some pickleball at a community center.

But each night there is supper at 6:15 followed by entertainment from 7:00 - 8:00.  Will the excitement never end?

Long Live the Queen of Rallies

  2. That was a truly wonderful thing, to just pitch-in and help organize the check-in area! You are a gem. But, you know that, don't you?
