Early Birds

We set out for the Florida fairgrounds with the intent to stop part way for the night.  But we got so far ahead of ourselves it seemed silly to set up and have to move such a short distance the next day.  So I called the good folk at the fairgrounds to see if we could come in an extra day ahead of the rally.

We were very fortunate to be allowed to come in on Thursday night and were met at the gate by a pair of men in a golf cart who escorted us to the parking area and pointed to the vast open space and said "take your pick".

It felt odd being the only people in the whole place, but later on another rig arrived and parked right next to us...as I'm sure countless others will before the rally begins.  He must be one of the organizers coming in to prepare for the rally.

Thursday night brought a thunderstorm and I couldn't help thinking that it was better to happen then than during the set up for others, which would be miserable.

Friday another rig pulled in...again, most likely another of the workers.  So, today is our day to go out and have lunch, find some groceries for our stay here and then sit back and watch as they all pull in Saturday morning.

It's nice to be the early early birds.

  1. Well, you look a bit lonely out there by yourself ... I must have missed it, what rally are you going to? I expect I will find out as soon as it is up and running. Making the rounds to get back in touch. I feel out of it after being away, but my trip was well worth it. Hope all is well, and yes, I love your new Racket Ball Paddle ... wouldn't have thought they would be so expensive, but I guess it makes sense since it is becoming a serious sport. Good for you, Sista ...

  6. Okay, I guess I'll join the growing list of folks wondering what this rally is all about. I doubt you'll be alone there for much longer. You sound like your shingles have stopped giving you so much grief. This is good news. Have fun, hugs, Edna B.
