Looking for a home for the holidays

Since we can't adopt the feral cat in our care I've started a search as to how to best help him.

The shelters here a guaranteed no kill, but are also very limited as to what they will take, mainly being nothing less than four months old.

So, since he falls under the "Community Cats" category we'll be going that route.  A spay and neuter clinic nearby will provide the service free of charge, as well as a rabies shot and then will notch his left ear for easy identification.  I'm hoping they can be convinced to give him a bath so he looks more presentable to the next person he approaches for a handout.

We stopped by on Monday morning with the anticipation of renting one of their live traps, but they are closed on Sunday and Monday, so I'm off this morning to pick up the trap.

After he (or she) is fixed up, we'll pick him/her up and return it to our campground in the area he was found.

My plan is to prepare a little flyer with his/her (I'll be so glad to find out what it is) photo on it explaining his plight and asking the camper in the area to please provide some food.  I'll have this laminated and put on one of the trees nearby.  Hopefully the campground won't take it down.

It's not a perfect solution, but given the circumstances and our time in the area it's the best we feel we can provide.

Hopefully the neutering and vaccination will help get Will Feral off to a good start, then it's out of our hands.

Long Live the Queen of Cats Everywhere

  1. Thank you. I am hoping you are also giving pause to others in this situation. If we each do what we can, it can make a difference. These lives matter, too. Thank you.

  2. I second that Ms. McGuffy!! Cheryl, I'm so glad you are doing your best to help Will find a forever home. My heart breaks for all the homeless and mistreated animals. I wish I could help all of them. But, like you, I do my best wherever I can. That reminds me. It's time for us to clean out the weatherized "cat" house that we have on our front porch. You have a wonderful day my friend. Hugs, Edna B.
