The Temptations

What an unexpected treat to see billboards announcing the Temptations would be appearing at the Quechan Casino near our RV park.  I made Left Brain take me there almost as soon as we arrived to buy tickets for this event.

I’ve loved this group for years and even though the group has changed often over its history and I didn’t know if there were any original members or not, I just had to go and see them.

The casino is about 10 minutes from where we are staying and we tucked the tickets into the glove box and waited for the big day.

It wasn’t until that Friday night a couple of weeks later that we were sitting around the RV reading our Kindles when I realized that it was that night we were to go!  We almost missed it as we drift along our lazy life being unaware of what day it is.

But we made it there with time to spare and that was a good thing considering the traffic and crowd.  It took a while to find a parking spot and maneuver our way through the casino to the conference room where the concert was set up.  Yup, we’re the kind that can walk through all the dinging and blinking and never feel compelled to put money into a machine. I just don’t get the need for this.

The show started at 8:00 pm, which is usually when we’re winding down and thinking about bedtime but there was no feeling tired with all the jazzed up excitement around us.

The performance was good and it was great to hear all the oldies I love as well as some of their new hits.  Otis Williams is the only remaining member of the original group.  He is currently 72 years old and has been performing with the Temptations now for 50 years.

  3. I want you to know that I got a chance to dance in a conga line with Otis! It was in Las Vegas about 15 years ago. It was at a convention, with the Temptations as the entertainment... they were singing, we were conga-ing, and he hopped off the stage and grabbed my hips! HA! :) (I am not mentioning that a little bit of alcohol was involved that evening...)

  4. I saw the Temptations in a Night Club in Chicago early in my marriage. It is a memory I charish ... they are such a Classy Group and their music is to die for. The one other thing I remember is we brought one of my friends with us and she wasn't 21 yet. I don't remember how we got her in, but I was nervous all night long. Everything turned out okay though, and now it seems silly to have worried ... like, what could they do to her or us or anyone. I am guessing there were others there who weren't legal as well. I was like that when I was younger ... I couldn't tell a lie without it being written all over my face ... so I just didn't tell lies. That's a good thing ... I still detest lies. They are so pointless and usually distructive. So I digress ...

Peanuts ... I love peanuts, peanut butter, peanut brittle, snikers, whatever. But, I don't eat many of them because they are really rather high in calories ... albeit good calories, they still look the same by the time they make it to my hips. Now my right brain husband eats cashews like a fool and his go straight to his pot belly ... shame on him. Not at all a healthy thing to do even though you could argue that they are healthy ... that big pot belly isn't! Anyway all of your information was very interesting. It is too bad they can't grow the peanuts there anymore. I grew peanuts here one year. It started out that I had some sprouts from the peanuts that the squirrels had buried. Somewhere I even have a picture of my little crop. That was really fun ... I ended up feeding them back to the squirrels ... afterall, it was their crop to start with. I like Yuma ... it seems to have a lot of variety to offer and I see you really having a good time without the inconveniences of some of your previous stops. I think you should stay there ... and then maybe I'll come out for a visit, Ha! I'm guessing your canned ham doesn't have a guest room, right? So you have a great day Queen of Peanut Butter ... till the next time.
