Arizona is our new home (for a while anyway)

The Queen took the helm of See-More today for about three hours as we continue to head westward.  There were no fatalities or problems and Left Brain never yelled at me once.  It’s amazing what duct tape can do.
Our new digs for a week

We arrived in Benson AZ this afternoon and settled in for a one week stay, maybe more.  It’s time to plan out our tourist activities for the stay and figure it out from there.
I don't know what he is, but he's so cute!

Our first order of business was to find a grocery store and get some brandy for Left Brain.  He bought two bottles; my driving must have affected him more than I thought.
This is the view out our front window

We did our shopping in a Safeway and what a refreshing experience after dealing with only Wal-Mart for several months.  I do suppose it’s odd to wander about marveling at the beauty of the display and the bright colors, the cleanliness while softly crying, but I couldn’t help myself.  It’s a place I actually WANT to go shopping.
That would hurt to land on!

There are many things we want to see in this area and tonight we’ll have to draw up the battle plan.  So…there should be an abundance of photos coming your way as we take it all in.

But for now…well, I think I need a drink tonight also.  It was 42 years ago today that I gave birth to my son and it’s only right to celebrate the occasion.

Long Live the Queen of Arizona

  1. There's lots to see besides Safeway. Is your ESPAÑOL improving?

  2. We enjoy the SKP park at Benson & are "on the list" for a potential lot. There are lots of cool things to do in the area & things to see. We're still in TX Hill Country, but we'll be in Benson sometime in the next 3 wks--but you'll probably be ahead of us, going down the road. We hope our paths cross this winter sometime!

  3. I'm just loving your photos. Keep em coming! According to my big bird book, that beautiful bird is a Gambel's Quail. It's gorgeous! Personally, I'm not a big fan of brandy. Any more than a couple of drops and I'm done in. I'd rather relax with a Sam Adams beer. At least I can drink a whole bottle before I start fading. You have a wonderful night and enjoy your new hometown. Hugs, Edna B.

  4. I never was able to get that great of a quail photo as they always want to run the other direction. Nice capture. You're making me want to hit the road again in Feb...but Gene is wanting to stay home. After deer hunting and snow I think he might change his mind.
