Damn that Cat!

This cat is going to be the death of us yet.  Yes, I'm talking about Gracie.

She is an extremely demanding cat, needing copious amounts of attention.  Odd as it is, she will demand being brushed at least daily...she just loves it.

If there's an open cabinet...she's in it.

If there's a chance to escape...she's out!

We've always clipped the end of the tunnels as she will paw it open.  But she's added a new trick to her repertoire.  She has learned to open the zipper where the tunnels connect.

I was gone during this last stint, but it aged poor Left Brain horribly.  Apparently he didn't notice her missing until George started demanding his attention.

Dad!  Somethings wrong!

He tried everything with him, cuddling, letting him in, letting him out, offering food...nothing worked.  Then it clicked in that he was upset about something else...his sister was missing.

This always reminds us of the old Lassie episodes when she had to save Timmy's worthless butt in episode after episode.  I'm sure if George could have barked he would have.

Then Left Brain noticed there was no calico cat to be seen in the tent or tunnel and one of the tunnels was unzipped.

He searched high and low through the surrounding woods and tall grass and finally spotted her lurking in the neighbors yard...looking quite satisfied with herself.

I'm not sure we have enough brain power to keep up with this one.

Long Live the Queen of Wayward Cats

  1. Oh no...my greatest fear. Getting out, lost, away from safety. Gracie is the typical calico, listening to her own music. Bless her naughty heart! I hope you can find a secure way to contain her.
My alpha dog, Maisie, used to tattle on the other dogs and the cats. We used to say, "What is it, Girl? Is Timmy in the well?"

  3. OMG I can remember the panic of a lost kitty. We have 3 with us in the MH when we travel and we are always worried about an escape. One of ours lurks at the door for every opportunity. We have a pet playpen that has a zippered, closed top for them to enjoy sitting outside with us. We also have a stroller for walks around the campground. Just a little spoiled, don't you think? But they are our babies. We even bought a MH with bunk beds so they could have their own room. Top bunk for sleeping, bottom for the litter box. So glad sweet Gracie is home and George is happy. You gotta love them.

  5. I'm so glad that Gracie was found and was okay. The thought of Pogo getting loose out by the street terrifies me. He's so tiny, and has no fear of what's out there. I have to agree though, Gracie is definitely YOUR cat!!! haha. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

  6. Why that sneaky little Gracie....she's a clever girl. One of cats (Harley) discovered the other night how to pull the bedroom door open, we soon fixed him though. - So glad she was found and George has his playmate back.
