Seeing old friends again

When my friends, Bob and Marti, called to see what we were doing on Thursday, I couldn't imagine why they'd be concerned since they were five and a half hours away in Las Vegas.  They are also a "home-free" couple and rent places to stay as they traverse the US.

It seems they were looking to take a day trip to come and visit us!  I was honored to say the least that they would drive all that way just to see us.

We enjoyed an evening sitting around the patio and discussing their future trip to Alaska and all the sights they want to take in.  Since Left Brain has been there with the tour bus he was a good source of information, as he is on many things.

Then we took them to Organ Stop Pizza for supper before they retreated back to their hotel for the night.

In the morning we met them for breakfast at Crackers & Co, a place I'd found using Yelp.  It had four and a half stars so it must be good.  This site is a great tool for finding those wonderful places only the locals seem to know about and is indispensable for those of us on the road.

It's location was finally located, tucked behind the Home Depot and it was worth the search.  Nice decor and interesting food choices.  Marti opted for the cherry cheesecake pancakes and all I wanted was the huge cinnamon roll, which made a meal in itself.

We had the host snap photos of us before we went our separate ways once again.

It was great seeing them again and I look forward to another visit when we both land back in the "old home area" this spring.

  3. Thanks for the heads up on using : YELP! And....also GREAT seeeing your heads up happy laugh. You are looking great! ~~~and now....to happily catchup to what you have been up to. My husband and I had a few sunshine weeks in Arizona, Green Valley. Loved, loved, loved it. You also will like to hear pickleball is growing bigger in the La Crosse-Winona-Onalaska area. We are setting up on own nets tomorrow morning at the La Crosse Y.

  4. That's a great photo of all of you. I'm going to look into YELP. It might help us find some fun spots that are hiding from the tourists in Florida. Although if this darn snow doesn't let up, we may not make it to Florida. Then I will really be a crazy lady!! We're in the middle of another blizzard. What else is new? The wind is blowing and the snow is falling and flying everywhere. We already have close to another foot at least so far. I'm getting a bit jealous of all your beautiful warm sunshine. Pogo wants to play, so gotta go. You have a super day. Hugs, Edna B.

  5. I think that pickleball has slimmed you down a bit ... you are looking great as is Left Brain. Nice to see you both sitting in your warm weather climate not giving another thought to those of us who are suffering single digit temps and snow. So glad you have that option ...but, like Edna, I am feeling a little green about your freedom and sunshine. But, admittedly, it couldn't happen to a better person, so I will let it go at that. Nice picture of all of you ... Is Bob tickling your ear, Queen of Good Times :) ?
