How hot does it get here?

I had seen a photo of this mural located in downtown Mesa in the Escapee's magazine and just had to go see it for myself.

When we first pulled up all I could see was the front of the building and I was a bit disappointed.  Somehow it just didn't match up with what I had expected.  I mean, it was amazing, but I thought it might be a tad more.

But then I walked around the side of the building and almost fell over.  The entire building is covered in this mural of a melting building.  It literally looks as if the building is melting.

The details are amazing, lifelike and surreal at the same time.

As I approached the rear of the building I wasn't sure if I should proceed or not as there was a rather large dog peeking out from the doorway.

But then I took a closer look at the doorway....

And the dog.

After I finished laughing at my foolish fears, I proceeded to walk around to the back of the building.  Due to the wire fence, the effect was not as stunning, but to know the entire building was covered was amazing.

  2. Now that is art! I love it! Love that coydog, too. Ours was from Arizona, near the NM border. A good sense of humour is priceless, too. Thanks for the great pictures of this extraordinary building. I hope to get back to blogging soon.

  3. Is it real? Does this building serve a purpose other than a canvas? I'm just curious ... is there an actual door to go inside and if so, what is inside? Oh my, I am full of questions ... I love mural painting. My sister painted murals on homes, walls and buildings and they were marvelous ... but the clever idea here ... Melting, Ha! I am guessing everyone there has felt like they were melting at one time or another. They probably have a reall appreciation for what this artist is saying. Wonderful find , my Queen ... and how long did it take your body to disperse the adrenalin from spotting the dog in the door? I have to say, I am never disappointed when I come to your blog, Queen of Adventure ...

    1. It is a real building but the store is now closed and it appears abandoned. I would think it would be a hot property with the cool mural. I couldn't believe I was actually scared of that dog! It looked so real. I kept waiting for it to turn its head and spot me.

  4. Oh my, this is AWESOME!!! What fabulous art. I would love to see this building. I can imagine the fun you had exploring here. That dog in the doorway looks so real, one can almost want to walk up and pet him. These photos are such a joy to look at considering that we are buried under so many feet of snow we've stopped counting. Ugh! Enjoy the warm sunshine and have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
