Arabian Horse Show

Bill and Mary had been wanting to attend this show for a while. Since I had horses in my past, thought I might enjoy seeing it with them.  They were oh so right!

Arabians are the most intelligent and gentle horses  ever bred, which is amazing when you figured they were designed as war horses.

I think it's those soulful eyes that get me the most.  Bill became a fan that day as well.

Of course he was petting anything furry since they are without a pet in their house.  Hmmm, I think it's time for a cat or dog soon.

The front of the building had these great sculptures of horses to admire.

As you can see, this sculpture is huge!

We were able to watch competitions in reining, sidesaddle, cattle cutting, harness racing and jumping.

What do you mean "cattle cutting"?  I don't like the sounds of this!

It was the perfect day to go as it wasn't so terribly hot and that made being outside pleasant while we watched these magnificent creatures perform.

Many of the events took place inside the air conditioned hippodrome as well.

It brought back a lot of fond memories of the horses in my life.  As much as I enjoyed that, I think we'll stick to cats now.

Long Live the Queen of Horses

  2. Hmm, horses might just be a bit big inside the van, haha. Sounds like a terrific day out.

  3. What beautiful horses. And the dog and the cow.(or steer) Sounds like you had a fabulous day out. Wouldn't mind a bit if you sent some of your mildly warm weather this way. Although today is rather nice. The snow has stopped and the sun came out. The temperature got up in the high 30's and some of the ice is melting. We're enjoying it because tomorrow night will be -7 again. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

  4. I am not a horse person, probably due to my joint restrictions. But, I love horses just the same! If and when you come through this area again, you may want to check out the Temple Lipizzans. I used to know one of the trainers. He was a perfectionist from Germany. The horses are truly amazing.
