But, first things first...we must find food.
I'd heard of this trendy little place called the Sassy Spoon. The menu choices were very unusual.
We started with an appetizer that my friend Marti got me hooked on...dates stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Even the kids enjoyed them.
I had the tacodilla which was pulled pork topped with cole slaw. The girls had flatbread pizza but it disappeared too fast to photo it.
We took the loop around the lake because I wanted to walk on the floating boardwalk. We spotted this female wood duck at the beginning of our trek.
Then there were some turtles on a log.
Dragonflies were in abundance, as they always seem to be near a body of water.
This egret was casting a nice reflection as it hunted for some lunch of its own.
It's nice to be able to enjoy such a green space right in the heart of the city. This is a view of the nature center from the other side of the lake.
Since we were hot and sticky afterwards we needed to find some ice cream. Hmmm....our days all seem to end that way when we're with the kids.
Long Live the Queen of Hikes
