Leaving Jojoba Hills

They added a third horse before our departure.
It is with mixed feelings that we leave Jojoba Hills.  There is always the excitement of going somewhere new and yet we stayed long enough here to meet some wonderful people and I hate to leave them.

Saturday we went to lunch at The County Line.  It's a quirky little place and at first glance it appears to be a dump.  But the Yelp reviews all say the food is delicious and different.

The menu features items such as brats made from your choice of elk, bison, lamb, pheasant, rabbit...well, you get the idea.  It also reiterates that there is no ketchup, mustard or mayo available and not to ask for it.  Apparently the French chef, Jacqu, gets quite upset when that happens.

I opted for the brat combo with one elk brat and one bison brat.  It came with a side salad, some incredible bread and a tasty dipping sauce.  Ketchup would have been an insult to this meal and I'm glad it's not allowed.

Left Brain went with the black angus burger, prepared medium rare...something you can't always request.  He had the side order of County Line potatoes, of which I stole a couple...yum.

I enjoyed my last day of playing pickleball on Sunday and said goodbye to new friends of Jim and Kim, Luann and Terry and Maggie.  I'm going to miss playing with these guys - they are not only great players, but good sports and put up with my continual ribbing and teasing.  Sorry Jim...but you're just too fun to pick on.

George and Gracie are going to miss the birds here, which they stalk relentless...inside their mesh tunnel.  But, they still envision themselves as mighty hunters.  This is where I need help from Tex-Wis Girl, my bird expert.  What are these?

Long Live the Pickleball Queen (thanks Terry for that idea)

  2. Gosh, I've missed so much!! I just finished getting caught up on these last few posts. First, your bird is indeed a Western Scrub-Jay. I looked it up in my books. What a beautiful bird! I absolutely love all the photos from San Diego. It's one place that I would love to visit, but haven't yet. I thought your photo of the junk store was such fun. It could be fun to poke around in there.

Sorry to hear about all the moves at the park. Gosh, I've never heard of anything like that before. I guess it was just waiting for you to get there to happen. lol.

LB's burger looks scrumptious. And I just love the chicken plate that the potatoes were served on. Just goes to show that you don't need a fancy building to serve delicious food. You have a super day. Hugs, Edna B.
