Manatee Springs

Since the weather here has been a bit on the cool and rainy side, I'm posting photos from our last stop.

Inside the Manatee Springs State Park there is a boardwalk that takes you out over the water among the cypress trees, giving a great view of the manatees that frequent the area.

The walk is serene, enjoying the shade and quiet sounds of birds and squirrels in the area.

these are the roots from the swamp trees and function as "snorkels" if you will for light and air

Is it just me or does this look like a face yawning to you, too?
We caught our first glimpse of three manatees in the water near the beginning of our walk.  They don't look like much from the shore...they are much cuter when face to face.

  2. What great pictures! I love cypress trees, they seem so magical.
Shouldn't your profile picture be Gracie, since she is a Queen? George is a King, right?? Just sayin'.

  3. That close up photo of the "root snorkels" is just fabulous!! I love all the photos, especially the manatees. I've never seen one in person, only pictures. I have to agree, that tree is definitely yawning. What a wonderful photo! I surely hope that one of these days you are going to write a book and put all these wonderful photos in it along with your fabulous stories. Hmmmmm? I'm getting ready to pack up and go home soon. (I'm at work) You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.
