A most pressing issue

I'd forgotten to mention it, but last week (April 24- 30) was Scoop the Poop Week.  I guess it slipped my mind since that's an every day occurrence in this household.  I'm not sure what others do, go scoop someone else's poop?  If so, where were you!

Sandwiches have become a way of life lately and I love the toasted ones with the lines across them.  Yeah, yeah..the paninis.   But how to achieve this?  That was the question.  I did not want to buy another expensive appliance that took up storage space.  I just want my grilled vegetable sandwich to be smooshed and have the cute little grill lines.

My friends have offered may suggestions, most of them useless...but there you are.  I've heard "flatten it with a brick", "use your iron" and "just buy a panini press you cheap #$%@$".  Oh, and "heat knitting needles and press them in to make the marks".  I think there was a spray painting suggestion, but she was drunk so it didn't really count.

After looking any many options, I stumbled across the perfect thing ...a small cast iron grill press with a handle.  It has the lines!  It's small!  It was cheap!  However, I'm still not sure how this will create my coveted lines without heating it separately.  But I will experiment with it.  One friend quickly discounted my thought of putting it in the microwave to get it hot before pressing.  Something about metal in the microwave and such...I'm still learning this kitchen stuff.  Where was she when I tried making French toast in a toaster?  That could have saved me the mess and expense of a new toaster.

Long Live the Panini Queen

  1. Gosh, I did not know that it was "Scoop The Poop" week. However, you'll be pleased to know that not only did I scoop the poop (Tootsie's), but I stepped in it and showed everyone a few more of the words that I've been known to utter while under duress.

I've heard that the little iron sandwich press works pretty good, although I've never used one. Good luck with it. I'm proud of you. I've never known anyone who had such a fun time while trying to stick to a diet. You go girl!!

Have a great night. Hugs, Edna B.

  2. TRY DRIVING OVER THEM WITH YOU CAR. YOU CAN THEN CHANGE THE DESIGN OF THE LINES JUST BY PUTTING SNOW TIRES ON YOUR CAR.
