I just finished a book last night about two sisters and their struggle to survive in the midst of the war with Japan.
It speaks of the will to survive and to the depths of sisterhood.
It is a historical novel and based on a mix of fiction and true events. It certainly provides an interesting glimpse into the life of the Chinese immigration.
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See is another good one.
